The "Angels of Light" Story
At the time Angels were created the Archangel
Gabriel wanted to ensure all Angels had a meaningful contribution
to make in bringing a higher sense of spirituality to the
world. It was not enough to fight evil; there was also the
need to foster good. In assigning the jobs for his multitude
of Angels, he considered what the right tasks would be for
a small group of angels who were somewhat inexperienced
but had strong hearts and bold attitudes. These he called
his "Angels of Light" because they lifted hearts
and spirits wherever they appeared. Each of these was given
a tiny Angel of Light pin to show they belonged
to this unique group.
The Angels of Light were put to work on earth looking after
a variety of places, people, animals, birds, flowers and
all manner of living things, including spiritual expression.
Each Angel received an assignment to protect, preserve and
foster good in all those who inhabited Earth. Gabriel decreed
that these Angels were to be brightly clothed and should
bring the joy of colour wherever they appeared. Each Angel,
alone or in a small group, was assigned a specific task
and each of them has a unique story that is now being told.
About the Angels of Light Collection
In 2001 I was having some health problems and was a bit
discouraged about the direction of my artistic vision. It
was a busy time because our family had just moved into a
new house and everything was chaotic. My creative spirit
was declining and I was considering if I really wanted to
continue painting. Then one morning I awoke with a creative
surge that was both powerful and compelling. I sat down
at my easel and began painting the first Angel of Light.
It was the most unusual painting experience of my life
My hands seemed to be guided by a strong
force that sprang from a deep wellspring of creative insight.
It was as if my body had been taken over to act as an instrument
under someone elses guidance. A week later I finished
the painting. The flow of colour and the intensity of the
spiritual feeling that came from that painting inspired
me to paint another, then another. I continued painting
angels for almost a full year and then I stopped
I had completed about 40 works of various
sizes with a rich tapestry of colour and subject matter
but I was unsettled. Something wasnt quite right.
I put them away and left them alone for a long time
Three years later I pulled out the first
Angel of Light and looked at it I stepped back and
really looked at it and it suddenly struck me. The
face wasnt right. I had painted the face in a very
loose, almost naïve style with very little definition.
It now became obvious that the faces of these angels needed
to be painted in a much more realistic style in order to
capture their spiritual essence and especially their bright,
caring eyes. Whatever the force was that first embraced
me began to tug at me again. Once again I was compelled
to obey.
I began working on the first Angel and then
moved onto another. In addition to the faces I also found
that many of the backgrounds and surrounding areas werent
fulfilling the vision. I altered these to better complement
the Angels and finally I was satisfied that the mood, expression
and spiritual light had been captured. It was only then
I agreed to introduce the Angels of Light to the world.
This collection has revitalized my artistic
vision and instilled a deeper spirituality into my work
and my life. I feel closer to nature and the unseen world
of angels and spiritual beings. Its a world full of
joy, concern, hope and love. Its a world where I want
my own spirit to dwell - to be nourished by the many angels
in my life.
Everyone has angels in their life to guide,
inspire and nurture them when most needed. They can usually
be found right there, next to the soul. I hope you find
a special connection to one of the Angels of Light in this
collection and that it lifts your spirit and speaks to your
soul.
